In 2008 I opened my first online shop, Heather's Custom Sewing, creating and selling small items such as bags and aprons to fill my time while raising a young family. As my interest in sewing, 'green' living, and my family grew, I expanded my business in late 2009 to include cloth diapers and other eco-friendly items at Hen and Chick Cloth. In early 2012 with the purchase of Micromops, I expanded again. After re-branding to Heather's Green Home Goods, LLC, I began selling on several platforms including Etsy and Amazon. I now carry a wide range of eco-friendly and reusable products which I plan to continue to provide.
Over the past 10 years I have also expanded my knowledge of sewing to include skills in flat pattern making, draping, tailoring, and alterations. I've also added technical skills in flat sketching using Adobe Illustrator. I've enjoyed creating garments for weddings, special occasions, dance costumes, and every day wear. During this time I attended Johnson County Community College where I obtained a Certificate in Business Plan in 2017 and an Associates Degree in Fashion Design and Technology in 2019. I had the honor of being on the Honor Roll/President's List every semester and given the JCCC Foundation Scholarship and the BNSF Railway Scolarship.
